PRISM poster presentations showcase range of Oglethorpe student research

At the end of each fall semester, Oglethorpe students synthesize their research into detailed posters to present at the annual Posters of Research in Science and Mathematics (PRISM).

Oglethorpe faculty, staff and students recently gathered in Lupton Auditorium for PRISM to hear from students about the research they conducted throughout the semester.

With the guidance of professors and collaboration with peers, students were able to explore unique topics, including the effects of leadership style and job-sex type on interview evaluations, acoustic levitation, macronutrient preference in harvester ants, and how the perception of God influences risk-taking, which was researched by Victoria Linton Evans ’26.

“Presenting at PRISM was amazing,” said the psychology major. “It felt so fulfilling to show my research to fellow students and professors. It made all the hard work worth it, and I am grateful for the experience! I think it’s an amazing event that Oglethorpe hosts and really allows students from all majors to shine.”

Oglethorpe allows students to take their learning into their own hands by working closely with faculty members who are experts in their fields to conduct research.

Several students shared LinkedIn posts celebrating their achievement of presenting at PRISM and also thanking professors who supported them throughout their research journey.

Thank you to Dr. Charles Baube, professor of biology, for guidance and support throughout this project, and to ÃÛÌÒÓ°Ïñ for providing an environment that encourages hands-on research and inquiry-based learning,” wrote Nicolias Jordan ’26, who researched the effects of styrofoam consumption on mealworms.

Although they’ve wrapped up their research for the semester, students have gained an invaluable experience and acquired the necessary skills for their future success by presenting at PRISM.
