The Class of 2026 is proud to launch , continuing Oglethorpe’s tradition of seniors giving back in meaningful ways. This year’s campaign empowers graduating Petrels to make a difference for their peers while building a lasting culture of philanthropy among Oglethorpe’s newest alumni.
Led by Senior Class President Ivy Nganga ’26, the Class of 2026 has chosen to support Petey’s Pantry, Oglethorpe’s campus food pantry that provides free nonperishable food and personal care items to students in need.
Food insecurity is a growing challenge on college campuses nationwide, with research showing that students who lack consistent access to food experience higher levels of stress, anxiety, and academic difficulty.
In Georgia, recent disruptions to food assistance programs have heightened concern about student need. In response, the Class of 2026 is rallying to strengthen this vital campus resource and help ensure every Petrel has reliable access to the essentials that support their wellbeing and success.

“It is crucial to reiterate now more than ever that basic needs such as food are a human right,” said Nganga. “I am excited to see the senior class support this initiative and provide necessities to fellow Petrels and action on a lasting legacy.”
Through Seniors for Students, graduating Petrels are helping their peers thrive academically, personally, and beyond the classroom. Students are encouraged to give $20.26 in honor of their class year, but gifts of any size make a difference.
Nganga and the Senior Senators aim for 100 percent participation by the 2026 Carillon Ceremony in May, demonstrating the collective power of Petrels coming together to leave a legacy of compassion and community.
