Can you articulate why you want the job and that you have the skills and experience to do the job? Do you have specific examples of your skills and experience that you can discuss? Use our interview handout and the resources below to get started on your interview preparation.
Recording your interview via video or audio will help you identify needed areas of improvement. Are you using too many filler words like "uh" or "like"? Do you answer the question in a way that tells the employer you can do the job? Are you clear and easy to understand? Do you look at the camera or do your eyes move around as you look for what to say next?

The tips for job interviews can help you prepare for graduate school interviews as well. You have to be able to say why you want to complete a specific graduate program and how you see yourself excelling in that program. In addition, you will want to discuss how you will use this new degree in your future career. The best way to prepare is through a mock interview in the CCLD.
You will not always have to complete an interview for graduate school. Interviews are common for special scholarships, competitive professional programs in counseling, medicine and other professional health fields, and graduate assistantships, where you would on campus in a research lab, academic department, or administrative department.
